Youth Skills, Youth Jobs
Youth facing multiple barriers get ready to go back to school or get a job through participation in group based employability skills workshops and work experience opportunities. Action for Healthy Communities has run the project since 2009, bringing groups of 12 youth together, over a 15 week period, to work collectively to develop and refine skills, abilities and strategies they would need to become engaged in the world through employment or school. Following that time they had work placement opportunities. Apart from the main project activity set, people are housed, reconnected to their children, supported through getting back taxes filed and a range of other activities. An even proportion of participants go from the project into school as into work.
