Youth Employment Skills Program
Action
for Healthy Communities is pleased to announce that it will
be offering a free 12 weeks Group Based Employability Skills
(GBES) program plus 6 weeks work experience
in a job placement for youth between 15 and 30 years of age
who are facing barriers to employment. The Youth Employment
skills program is fully funded by the Government of Canada
(Service Canada).With the objectives of increasing the
youth’s employability and enhancing their career objectives,
the program will focus on career exploration, real life
experimentation with ideas, both individual and group
analysis and critical thinking skills as well as clear
career goal setting. It will also include workshops and
seminars on selected topics that are tailored to the needs
of these youth. The program participants will gain skills in
Computer skills, basic financial literacy and business
language, Leadership and team building, Self-care,
self-image and self-esteem. The workshops will also provide
the youth the opportunity to learn about
Alberta
labour standards, Work ethic, and how to write and develop
Resumes, cover letters for job search.
The program runs from
the month of
January- May 22
at the AHC
office.
