Session IX

Topic:  Share Discoveries

Introduction: After the conversation of a World Café meeting or workshop, the CSCAs need to decide how to share the discoveries made at the event. Using someone who can visually record the workshop event can be a fun thing. In Edmonton there is a professional muralist who works with many groups creating community images. Taking a look around at the table drawings and doodling is a way of sharing the work of everyone. Having the table host feed back to the large group works too, summarizing the discussion . For supplemental reading, see Resources

Objectives: By the end of this session, you will

  • Learn how to share group learnings
  • See how to make learning visible

Notes for Animators: Anita and Abdikarim were so impressed with the creativity that came from the planning team. How will this turn out in a larger group, they wondered? So much potential for idea expansion and further events, they thought. Maybe someone could bring a digital camera. Then right away the images could be shared on the website. The excitement of the workshop, good ideas and good planning can be developed in a number of good ways.

Journal Question: What ways have you seen that effectively display learning from a workshop event? What helps you remember or capture what went on? Is it hearing from somebody? Looking at the pictures that were taken? Or reading the notes?

Materials needed: See Pictures plus a digital camera

Reflection: Completing these 9 sessions of World Café Introduction gives you a taste of this method of conversation. There are many ways to follow up and learn more. You can go to the links on this site. You can also sign up for the next training offered by Action for Healthy Communities
